THE ANIMALS ARE THE STARS OF THE SHOW!

WOW - What an amazing open weekend!  We cannot thank everyone enough for coming along to support us and making it such a huge success.

The weather was perfect, and we have received so much lovely feedback about the event, the sanctuary, our wonderful volunteers but most importantly the stars of the show – the animals!

Of course, there was plenty to see and do for the whole family, but the main attraction is always the animals and yet again they didn’t disappoint.  They truly love seeing everyone and get excited when they realise we are preparing for the open weekend.

Attractions included, pony grooming, goat petting, children’s corner, craft stalls, bric a brac, face painting, food stalls, a raffle, tombola, musical entertainment, tea, cakes and much more.

With a family fete feeling people sat in the sunshine, watching the animals, listening to the wonderful

musicians and enjoying some

home-made refreshments.

People came from far and wide to see the animals at the sanctuary with “Wolverine” doing a cracking job entertaining everyone as well as the extremely funny compere Craig Henderson.  The animals all seem to know when it is time to entertain and they greeted everyone, enjoying the fuss people made of them.

Musical entertainment was provided by Gjs accompanied by Louise the Donkey who joined in braying for the third year running!

Debbie Beal of Littlehampton wrote to say “we really enjoyed ourselves. The weather was great, all the animals were looking really good and happy. We will definitely be coming again next year! Congratulations on a brilliant family day out”.

ABC Trustee Cheryl Tofield-Cook said “It takes a lot of hard work, money and effort to keep the animals in good shape but that was the mission of our founder, the late Alexandra Bastedo and we carry that on in her name.  The cost of rescuing, feeding, vet bills and caring for our animals amounts to approximately £10,000 each month”.

“The ABC Animal Sanctuary receives no funding, and we are therefore reliant on the generosity of our supporters, our own fundraising events and those of the public and our volunteers”.

“That is why, at our Open Weekend, we launched a new fundraising initiative inviting people to become an ABC Ambassador!”

As an ambassador you:

·       Get to choose an animal to sponsor

·       Receive an animal sponsorship pack

·       Get 2 free entries to the ABC open weekend every year

·       Receive an ABC goody bag full of merchandise

·       Receive regular email blogs and newsletters from the sanctuary

·       Be the first to hear about events

·     Visit the sanctuary twice a year on events just for ambassadors and sponsors where you will get to meet your sponsored animal, tour the sanctuary and have tea and cake at Berties café.

Becoming an ABC Ambassador costs £25 per month, and this helps us provide the care and protection the animals need.
