Saturday 1st December the ABC Animal Sanctuary started the countdown to Christmas with a Christmas Cracker festive event.
Held at St Mary’s Parish Church, Storrington, on what was a rather dull wet evening outside; inside the church we were treated to an evening of songs, carols, readings and other oratory delights.
The evening was hosted by our good friend and sanctuary president Sue Jameson, who together with Alan McMahon recited a number of poems and readings, punctuated with the occasional limerick.
Supporting Sue & Alan was the wonderful voice of soprano Jacquelyn Hale who in addition to solo performances lead the gathered attendees in a number of Christmas carols.
Both at the start of the evening and during the interval, the guests were able to enjoy and glass of wine, which was kindly provided by Waitrose, Storrington and a selection of Christmas treats, prepared by some of our sanctuary volunteers.
Playing the keyboard to accompany Jacquelyn was Gill Parish and on the main church organ was Matthew Cooke.
After the final rousing carol of Hark the Herald Angels, our customary raffle was draw and many people left with an early Christmas gift, thanks to donations from Raft – Brighton, Golden Willow in Storrington, Village Green, Storrington and Julie Welsh.
A good evening was had by all so a final thank you to the volunteers for putting on this event.
