Residents

Sir Francis Drake, so named after the famous English explorer and

privateer. He is with us at the sanctuary as his previous owners felt he would be happier with other ducks. Sadly, all his lady friends had passed on and he was left alone.

He used to escape from their garden to the local pond where there were other ducks to be with.

He is quite elderly but this does not stop him fighting with our other larger drake, Mork. 

Consequently, Sir Francis has his own area of the aviary with his own pond. The smaller ducks are small enough to get through the railings and are able to join him when they want to. This works well and he is a happy boy.
