Our running costs are on-going and all the money we raise is spent entirely on the animals. All our staff are unpaid volunteers. Feed bills are constant, hay costs are particularly high during the winter when there is very little grass Equine worming needs to be carried out every 3 months at an average cost per equine of £12.00. The farrier visits every 8 weeks to treat the feet of all of our 27 equines at a cost of £10.00 per animal. Healthy non-sugar, non- additive, non-colourant cat food is expensive, and the cats also have to be wormed and deflead as well. All this and much, much, more............

There are also the vets' bills which we try to keep to a minimum with nutritional supplements and herbal and homeopathic remedies, but still they keep coming. In particular during late 2012, we were unfortunate to contract cat flu. Although we do our utmost to ensure that all animals brought to us are vaccinated and disease free, sometimes ilness does not show itself until it's too late. We had several cats in veterinary care, as well as those which we cared for and nursed at the Sanctuary and with careful monitoring most pulled through. In-patient care and mass vaccination meant the bills mounted and resulted in large unexpected bills. Charlie, Eddie, Rhett and Sky receive regular treatment for sweet itch in the summer. Rupert receives daily medication for Cushings Disease. Misty is having treatment for anaemia and one of the old goats is on pain killers. Wormers, fly sprays, flea spot-ons - all of this plus vets bills soon mount up. Any help you can give is very much appreciated!

The Equines
We would very much like to be able to install more hardstanding for the equines - our damp climate with constant rain means the paddocks are frequently muddy and it would be much better for their hoofs to have more solid ground around their stables to stand on.
Estimated cost £750 - any donation towards this gratefully received.

The Cats
Our catteries are always full with unwanted cats. Although two kind supporters donated funds to build a new cattery - and a concrete foundation to errect it on -we are finding more and more cats are being abandoned or their owners circumstances demand they be re-homed. We need to have additional catteries built to cope with this increasing number of felines.Volunteers have offered to build/install and kit-out the interiors free of charge.
Estimated cost of 'shell' (summerhouse-type buildings) £1,000 - any donations towards new catteries would be gratefully received.
